India Grand Tour (21 days)

Day 1: Depart USA to India. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey.

Day 2: Arrive to Delhi and transfer to your hotel: The Connaught.

Day 3: Enjoy a tour of Old Delhi in the morning. Visit the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi; India's largest mosque, Jama Masjid, then view the Red Fort. This afternoon, tour New Delhi. Pass by the 12th-century Qutab Minar, then visit the Mausoleum of Humayun and the Birla Temple. Drive past India gate, the former Viceroy's Palace and Parliament House. (B)

Day 4: This morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Varanasi. Upon arrival visit the small city of Sarnath, where Buddha gave his first sermon and view the ruins, the stupa and the Buddhist Temple. Also visit the Banaras Hindu University constructed at the beginning of the century by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. The university houses a Bharat Kala Bhawan with a fairly notable collection of miniature paintings and sculptures from the 1st to the 15th Centuries with an evening visit to Ghats during Aarti. Overnight at hotel in Varanasi: Radisson Hotel Varanasi. (B)

Day 5: Take an early morning boat ride on the Ganges. Pass the bathing Ghats, where Hindus come to immerse themselves to purify their souls; and the burning Ghats, where bodies await cremation so their ashes may be scattered in the river. Return to hotel for breakfast and later proceed on a tour of the temples of Varanasi. Visit the Golden Temple dedicated to Shiva and the Durga Temple dedicated to goddess Durga, with large number of monkeys in the premises. Drive to the airport for your flight to Khajuraho. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel: Holiday Inn. Visit the Western group of temples consisting of the massive Lakhshmana Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the Lakshmi and Varaha temples, the Khandariya Mahadev Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and the Chausath Yogini Temple dedicated to goddess Kali. Option for this night might be a Sound and Light show. (B)

Day 6: Visit the Eastern group of temples. Later proceed to Jhansi and board the Shatabdi Express train for Agra. Transfer to your hotel: Holiday Inn. (B)

Day 7: You will have a morning visit to the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, built by Emperor Shah Jehan as a mausoleum for his beloved Queen Mumtaj Mahal. Continue to Agra Fort, started by Emperor Akbar and completed by three different Mughal Emperors. Stroll the palaces, mosques and Halls of Public and Private Audiences. Visit the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri. Explore the perfectly preserved buildings, including Panch Mahal Palace and Jama Masjid. Arrive to Jaipur and check in to your hotel: KK Royal Days. (B)

Day 8: Enjoy the excursion to Amber Fort where you will be able to ride on the back of an elephant to the top of the hill. In the afternoon, tour Jaipur including visits to the observatory of Maharaja Jaisingh and the museum at the Maharaja City Palace. Drive past Hawa Mahal and the Palace of Winds, the architectural keynote of the city. (B)

Day 9: In the morning drive to Jodhpur. On arrival, check in at your hotel Ajit Bhawan Palace and proceed for a city tour, which includes Mehrangarh Fort. In this place you would see different miniature paintings and a cradle room. After this you would also visit Jaswant Thada Memorial - a richly carved white marble cenotaph, which preserves the genealogy of the rulers of Jodhpur along with their life-size portraits. (B)

Day 10: After breakfast drive to Udaipur with en route visiting the famous Jain Temples at Ranakpur. On arrival check in to your hotel: Shiv Niwas Palace. Rest of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 11: Proceed for a city tour visiting the City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Sahelion Ki Bari followed by a boat cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. From the boat you will be able to view the city of Udaipur as it rises majestically above the lake in the middle of the Rajasthan desert. (B)

Day 12: After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay. Check in to your hotel: Kohinoor Continental. Later start your sightseeing tour with excursion to Elephanta Caves and also visiting the Gateway of India, Mani Bhawan, Prince of Wales Museum and Dhobi Ghat. Pass the Crawford Market and Marine Drive. (B)

Day 13: In the morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cochin. Check in to your hotel: Trident Hilton. This afternoon enjoy a half day sightseeing tour visiting Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church and the Synagogue, which is located is next to the Mattancherry Palace. It is possible to see the Great Scrolls of the Old Testament and the copper plates on which privileges were granted to the Jewish community by the Kochi rulers. (B)

Day 14: Drive in southern direction to Alleppey, which is a focal point for backwater cruises in Kerala. It has a large network of canals which passes through the town. Board the Houseboat. Cruise through the back waters. Overnight stay at the air-conditioned Houseboat. (B,D)

Day 15: Disembark from the Houseboat after breakfast and drive back to Cochin where you will be dropped at the airport to board your plane to Chennai, formerly known as Madras. Transfer to the hotel: GRT Grand. Balance of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 16: Morning sightseeing tour of Chennai visiting The National Art Gallery, St. Mary’s Church, Peoples Park and the beautiful Marina Beach, which is the second longest beach in the world. In the evening, transfer to the airport for your flight to Bangalore. Check in to your hotel: 37th Crescent. (B)

Day 17: After breakfast proceed for a city tour, which includes visit to the Botanical Gardens, Tippu Sultan's Palace, the Nandi Temple and shopping at M.G. Road. Balance of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 18: Early morning transfer to the airport and flight to Calcutta. Upon arrival check in to your hotel: The Peerless Inn. This afternoon proceed for a city tour visiting the flower market and neighborhood, where local craftsmen create statues of gods and goddesses, and the impressive Victoria Memorial Museum, a remnant of the colonial British Raj Empire and also the Indian Museum, considered one of the finest in Asia.

Day 19: Full day free for own activities or an optional excursion to Ramakrishna Math or Light and Sound show at the Victoria Memorial. (B)

Day 20: Morning at leisure. Afternoon transfer to the airport for your flight to Delhi. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel: Ashok Country Resort. (B)

Day 21: Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
