South India and Goa (18 days)

Day 1: Depart USA to India. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment for your journey.

Day 2: Arrive to Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, and transfer to your hotel: Ramee Guestline.

Day 3: Enjoy a full-day tour of Mumbai. Visit such places as Gateway of India, Elephanta Caves, Dhobi Ghat, Prince of Wales Museum and Mani Bhawan. Pass the Crawford Market and Marine Drive. (B)

Day 4: Transfer to the airport for your flight to Bangalore. Locatated at 1000 meters above sea level, this bustling capital city of Karnataka has a perpetual holiday atmosphere. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel: Royal Orchid Central. (B)

Day 5: After breakfast proceed for a city tour, which includes visit to the Botanical Gardens, Tippu Sultan's Palace, the Nandi Temple and shopping at M.G. Road. Bangalore is known as the Garden City and the Silicon Valley of India since it is a center of modern technology in the country. Balance of the day is at leisure. (B)

Day 6: In the morning you will have a scenic drive to Mysore. As the capital city of the Wodeyars, Mysore has always enchanted its admirers with its quaint charm,rich heritage, magnificent palaces, beautifully laid-out gardens, imposing buildings, broad shady avenues and sacred temples. Your hotel in Mysore will be Regaalis Mysore. Afternoon city tour will include visiting Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, Nandi Bull and Brindaban Gardens. (B)

Day 7: Morning at leisure and then drive to Sravanbelagola. See huge monolithic statue of first Jain sage Gommateshwara Bahubali and frescoes. Arrive to Hassan and check in to your hotel: Southern Star. (B)

Day 8: Learn about the town of Hassan, which was greatly influenced by Jainism and later it became a well-known center of Jain literature. The present-day Hassan is the headquarters of the district by the same name and a convenient base for the tourists visiting Belur and Halebid. Drive to Hospet. Its tourist importance lies in its proximity to Hampi, the site of the medieval Vijayanagar Empire, situated 13 kilometers away. Check in to your hotel: Malligi Garden. (B)

Day 9: Visit Hampi, once beautiful empire capital city greater than Rome. Palaces, temples and sculptures, spread all over Hampi. The city was razed to the ground by the sultanates of South in year 1565. See such interesting sites as Virupaksha, Vittala and Hazara Rama temples, huge Ganesha and Narasimha images, the elephant stables, the Queen's Bath, carvings on the Ramachandra Temple and Lotus Mahal. Return back to Hospet. (B)

Day 10: After breakfast drive to Aihole area. Aihole is a cradle of stone temple architecture of the southern Dravidan school. The oldest temple Lad Khan goes back to the 5th century. There are 70 temples in this group. The Durga Temple is noted for its sculptures. The Meguti Temple is built of 630 small stone blocks. The Ravanaphadi Cave has some beautiful carvings. Pattadakal, referred to as Petrigal, reached its pinnacle of glory under the Chalukya kings from 7th to 9th centuries. The oldest in this group is the Sanghameshwara Temple. the Mallikarjuna Temple has pillars depicting life of Krishna. Virpaksha Temple has sculptures and panels scenes from the epics, the Ramayana and Mahabharata, the Pananatha Temple has impressive carvings. Continue drive to Badami and check in to your hotel: Badami Court. (B)

Day 11: After breakfast visit the Badami Caves. Badami, also known as Vatapi, is rich with Hindu and Jain temples carved out of sand stone hills. The carved temples date back to the 6th century. Of these three are Hindus and one Jain. Sculptured out of solid rock they are adorned with carvings. Fort, on top of a hill encloses large galleries, treasury and a watch tower. The famous Malegitti Shivalaya Temple set on the summit of a hill is built of stones joined without mortar. (B)

Day 12: Morning excursion to Gol Gumbaz, the great mausoleum of Ibrahim's successor Muhammad Adil Shah. Thereafter continue your drive to Bijapur and upon arrival check in at hotel: Kanishka International. Your afternoon city tour of Bijapur includes visiting the great monuments built by Muslim rulers, including Malik-E-Maidan, Jama Masjid and Ibrahim Roza.(B)

Day 13: Drive to Belgaum. On reaching the city check in to your hotel Sankam Residency and later visit historic sites of Belgaum, including the old town district and fort. Inside the fort you will see famous Kamala Basti, Jain Temple, Jama Masjid, Kapileshwar Temple and Ananthashayana. (B)

Day 14: Drive to the resort city of Goa, which used to be a Portuguese colony. Check in to your beach front hotel: Cidade de Goa. Rest of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 15: After breakfast depart for a half-day city tour of Goa visiting Basilica of Bon Jesus, Dona Paula, Miramar Beach and Panaji. Afternoon is free. (B)

Day 16: Full day free to relax on the beach. (B)

Day 17: Transfer to the airport for flight to Mumbai (Bombay). Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight in Ramee Guestline. (B)

Day 18: Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
